Like Mother Like Daughter

It is so obvious that Camryn watches her mommy very closely.  She loves make up, lotion and cooking.  Lately when ever she has a moment alone Camryn tries to increase her talents in those areas.  The first instance I found her covered in anti-bacterial hand lotion from head to toe.  She decided to find my purse and get busy.  Not only was she totally covered but also my entire wallet and everything inside.

While I was out at a store Camryn had decided to make some italian soup.  Dallas had just used the bathroom and typical of my four year old son he did not flush.  I will just say there was a nice surprise left for all to see.  Camryn of course thought it would be a perfect opportunity to perfect her cooking techniques.  She added some cheese and pepperoni to the mix along with a lot of toilet paper and cups.  Wes was the lucky one who got to clean it up.

Now finally to the makeup.  I was grocery shopping when Camryn decided she need to beautify.  She found two different kids of face cream and used a make up brush to apply all of the creme liberally all over her and a pillow.  There wasn't any left in the little glass jars.  Later that same day Wes went down stairs and asked what was all over her face.  She had something all around her lips.  I saw a few lip liners in her hand.  Wes said, "at least she knows where it goes."

I am starting to learn she can't be trusted or left alone for a second.  She is fast and quiet.

Partners in Crime

On a Sunday evening I was talking with my mother in law and I hear a muffled cry for help.  It sounded like Dallas was locked in the garage or the pantry.  I ran in to the kitchen to help him but he was nowhere to be found.  I started to panic because I could still hear him.  I looked at Camryn and asked where he was, she laughed and pointed in to the laundry room.  I could see Dallas looking through the dryer window like a sad puppy.  His naughty little sister had locked him in the dryer.  I don't think he will ever climb in there again.  I never realize the danger that exists until the kids show me what they are capable of.  I was glad I was actually down stairs to hear him and that Camryn did not turn the dryer on.

Wes and Camryn were walking down the stairs the other day and Wes said something and introduced the word "MO FO".   Camryn immediately followed with another "MO FO"  She is definitely developing a sophisticated vocabulary.

In the Army Now!

It's final!  As of last night Wes officially signed the contract.  He is going to Officer Candidate School.  He leaves January 14th for 10 weeks of boot camp. Following boot camp is 12 weeks of OCS.  After OCS is a 2 week training.  After all this he will go to branch training, depending on which department he gets into determines how long that will take.  We are hoping for military intelligence.  The branch training can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months.  When he has finally finished training we get to be together and find out where he will be stationed.  His top three choices of where to live were Germany, Hawaii and Japan, but we could end up anywhere.  After that hopefully we can be together for a while before he gets deployed.

Halloween

We started our Halloween by going to a festival in the morning.  It was pretty lame.  We did go on a hay ride and Dallas played some games.  The best part was when Dallas and Camryn played in the soccer field.  They were super heroes, which meant they were tackling and chasing each other.  Our neighborhood isn't too great for trick or treating, most people weren't home or just not giving out candy.  Dallas and Camryn still had so much fun.

Cute Things Kids Say!

We had someone look at our house today so I tried to make things look nice.  I set the table really nice and set out things to decorate last night before I went to bed.  When Camryn woke up this morning she acted like it was Christmas.  When she saw everything the gasped and said "It is so beautiful, get your princess dress mom!"  She was already for a tea party.

Last night at dinner Dallas looked at me and said "you are huge fat mom!"  Either he is really perceptive or he hears something similar from me to much.

Dallas has a case of the "MON CHI CHi"

Every time Dallas needs a hair cut he reminds me of someone.  I used to think it was an EWOK but I realized today he resembles a MON CHI CHI.  Maybe I am the only one who sees it.  His hair just keeps growing towards his eyes and over his ears.  It is thick and completely straight.  It just won't go any other way.  It looks likes it is time to buzz it again.  He is so cute!

Tip of the day! AVOCADOS

I love google.  I google every question I have.  So maybe I am slow but I just learned how to make an avocado last longer.  I have not been a huge fan of buying avocados because they turn brown to easy and sometimes I just don't want the whole thing.  So what do you do if you only want half?  Here is the answer.  Suspend it in water.  Fill up a storage container with water and put the half you want to save face down.  If the air can't get to it, it won't turn brown.  Avocado are not water soluble.  So what do you do if there is a sale on avocados 5 for $5 but you can't eat them all in time?  Leave them on the counter until they are ripe then if you are not ready to eat them put them in the fridge for up to seven days and the ripeness will stay the same.

At this moment right now life is really good.  Everything seems to be normal at least for a short time.  I am for the first time a true stay at home mom.  I don't work and I am not helping Wes with home work any more.  I always wondered if I would be content with being at home.  I love it!  Three days a week I get up early and jog for two miles.   My house is mostly clean all day.  I am always cleaning up something but it is never overwhelming.  I have time to go for walks with the kids.  The latest walk we followed a map from the Dallas Zoo.  Dallas (my son) took us to number six and then seven.  He was on an adventure.  The kids and I learn a two new letters and numbers every week.  Camryn picks up on everything almost as fast as Dallas.  The latest letter was the lower case m.  When I gave the coloring page to Dallas he insisted to turn the paper on its side because it was an E.  He finally gave up and accepted it was a lower case E.  I find myself feeling bored so I went to the Hutto library.  I was amazed at its extravagance!
It is the size of my gameroom.  I did find some books so I am reading for fun.  I just started doing that.  The true nerd is finally coming out.  I am now reading Wuthering Heights.  I didn't realize that the 1800's vocabulary was so much more sophisticated that my own.  It feels good to use my brain.

Those that know Dallas know that he loves video games and computer games.  He is now trying to find his own tv shows with the remote.  Yesterday I was cleaning up the kitchen and he asked to watch cartoons in my room so I put them on and went up stairs.  I was confused when I saw a girl dancing around in a bikini.  I looked at the channel and it was adult on demand.  My son somehow bought brazilian sexcapades for 16.99.  I hope he didn't see anything.  I think it is time to lock up some channels so they aren't watched by mistake.  That was a first.

Camryn is a pack rat.  If anything is missing she knows where it is.  One Sunday I was looking for Dallas's shoes I couldn't find them so we settled for another pair.  Days later I was putting something away in the kitchen and there they were nice and neat in a toaster oven.  I once found chewed up grapes in a drawer and she is always hiding dvds and she is the only one who knows where they are.  Camryn also likes to tuck her self away where ever there is enough room.  Bathroom cupboards and drawers.  I often find her standing in dresser drawers.  I think she finally gave it up when she had one fall on top of her.  I was talking with a friend and heard her crying, and like the good mother I am ignored her because she cries all day.  I heard her yell owie so I knew something was wrong.  I went into the guest room and the night stand was on top of her and her leg was stuck.  She hasn't been in a drawer since.

Wes is absolutely loving his job at sams club.  Did I say loving I meant loathing.  It makes the army almost desirable.  Things are going forward with the army.  We still don't know if it is for sure yet but we are planning on it.  Wes has started this exercise program to help him make it through boot camp and officer school.  It kicks his butt.  He has to get up at 5:30 and exercise harder than he ever has.  I can already tell he is losing weight even though there isn't much to loose.  He may get that six pack he's always wanted.
